Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 9, 2026

1. Information We Collect

Account Data: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Account authentication is managed by Clerk, a SOC 2 compliant identity provider. Passwords are never stored in our database.

Case Data: Case information, juror names, voir dire responses, and attorney notes are stored locally in your browser (localStorage). This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly use our AI-powered evaluation features.

Analytics: We collect anonymized usage data including pages visited, browser type, country-level location, and session identifiers. IP addresses are cryptographically hashed before storage — we do not store raw IP addresses.

2. AI-Powered Features & Third-Party Processing

When you use AI Evaluate & Rank or AI-generated voir dire questions, anonymized case data is sent to a third-party AI provider (DeepSeek) for processing. Before transmission:

  • All juror names are redacted and replaced with generic labels (e.g., “Juror Candidate”)
  • Personal identifiers in case descriptions and attorney notes are anonymized
  • No raw personally identifiable information (PII) is sent to external services

Important: DeepSeek is headquartered in China. By using AI-powered features, anonymized case data may be processed on servers located outside your jurisdiction, including in the People's Republic of China. AI features are entirely optional — local keyword-based scoring is always available as a fallback and does not transmit any data externally.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve the jurorAtlas platform
  • To process payments through Stripe (we never see or store your card details)
  • To analyze aggregate usage patterns and improve the product
  • To detect and prevent unauthorized access or abuse

4. Data Storage & Security

Case data is stored locally in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers (except anonymized snippets for AI evaluation, as described above). Account authentication is managed by Clerk, a SOC 2 compliant identity provider. Passwords are never stored in our database. All connections use TLS encryption in transit.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication sessions. We use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic analysis. You may opt out of analytics tracking via the cookie preferences banner or by using a browser extension like uBlock Origin.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of analytics tracking
  • Export your case data (available via browser localStorage)

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@juroratlas.com.

7. Data Retention

Analytics events are retained for a rolling window of the most recent 10,000 events. Account data is retained until you request deletion. Case data stored in your browser persists until you clear it manually.

8. Children's Privacy

jurorAtlas is designed for legal professionals, law students, and educators. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18.
